Celebrate Black History Month with MOVED, the only event of its kind in South Florida—a vibrant tribute to dance, culture, and the arts designed for all ages and abilities. With a full day of activities culminating in an evening concert, MOVED honors the rich contributions of Black artists while inspiring, energizing, and connecting our community.
Taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, this single-day dance festival led by renowned artists such as Buddha Stretch, the pioneer and father of hip-hop; Paunika Jones, former principal ballerina with Dance Theatre of Harlem; and Monique N. Walker, master teacher of the Umfundalai Technique.
The event concludes with an evening concert featuring works by commissioned choreographers. The program also features a special performance by one of our featured artists, Paunika Jones.
New this year! The evening concert will also include a pre-show presenting two repertoire works from our MOVED intermediate/advanced Jazz and Modern repertoire classes taught by Herman Payne of Miami City Ballet and Branndi Lewis of GroundedWPB and Ailey, along with an emerging choreographer’s work.
