Join Us for Boca Raton’s MLK Jr Celebration January 20, 2025!
Debra Weiss Dance Company’s Broadway Dance Youth Program will give two performances of “Dances for MLK Day”:
- “Veggie Bugaloo” and Healthy Living Awards Ceremony, 3:30pm Thursday, January 16, Lois Martin Community Center
- “Celebrating 100 Years of African American Dance” Happy 100th Birthday, Boca Raton! 1:30pm Monday, January 20, Boca Raton Museum of Art featuring the Charleston and Ragtime Dances!
Come early and make a day of it! Enjoy a free community breakfast at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 9am, then join in the march to Mizner Park. The march is followed by a ceremony and community performances. After our youth performance, stick around for lunch and carnival rides until 3pm!
Broadway Dance youth programs are choreographed & directed by Dr. Debra Weiss, Artistic Director of Debra Weiss Dance Company. The Boca Raton youth programs are free thanks to grants from the City of Boca Raton, the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton, and contributions from individual donors. Boca Raton’s Martin Luther King Jr Celebration is produced by the City of Boca Raton in partnership with DISC (Developing Interracial Social Change).
