The series of works by Caroline Birchall is an exploration of the human connection with the sublime or spiritual. The term shorthand in this body of work refers to the use of symbols or abbreviated words to convey a message. Approaching the divine can be an intimate and personal experience, one that can at times seem to only be understood between the person and that higher entity. For the artist, the painting practice is the connecting of divinity and humanity through emotion and unconscious thought, rather than written or spoken language.
About the Artist:
Caroline Birchall is a painter living and working in South Florida. She has been featured in multiple shows located in her home state of Utah as well as publications for various art magazines. Caroline uses oil and acrylic paint to create colorful landscapes and portraits. Her imagery is influenced by the natural and microbiological world as well as spiritual and inner thought processes. She describes her paintings as psychological landscapes. She looks at how external natural systems can influence internal human experiences. Birchall obtained her BFA in Painting at Brigham Young University.
