The Boca Raton Museum of Art would not exist without the generosity of our community. The Museum has prospered over 50 years through donations of artwork, funding, and time. The Museum Collection was founded based on a significant donation from Dr. and Mrs. John J. Mayers and strengthened years later by another such gift from Mr. Isadore and Kelly Friedman. Together, their donations total 191 exemplary artworks in the collection.
Courtesy of these two collectors, one of the Museum’s greatest strengths is its works on paper collection. The Mayers collection includes works by European and American masters ranging from Henri Matisse to Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani to Jules Pascin, and Maurice Prendergast. One of the Friedman collection’s greatest strengths is photography by: Eugène Atget, Margaret Bourke-White, Helmut Newton, Edward Steichen, and Josef Sudek, among others.
This exhibition celebrates the keen eye for artistic excellence inspired by our generous donors, past, present, and future.
