Artist Grants
Your artistic journey deserves every chance to flourish. Discover the Council’s grants, fellowships, and more to support your work.
The Council’s Artist Innovation Fellowship Program celebrates the artistic process and supports professional artists in all artistic disciplines with funding to pursue new avenues of creativity, expand upon current work, and other endeavors to propel his/her career forward.
The Artist Innovation Fellowship Program expanded to include funding for ten $7,500 fellowships in 2024. Each fellow has one year to complete their activities. The program culminates with an exhibition and performance showcase at the Cultural Council’s headquarters in 2025.
Selected by a regional panel of discipline-specific arts professionals, applicants are evaluated according to: the quality of the applicant’s artistic work, the strength of their proposed fellowship activities and its relation to their work, and the intended impact on the applicant and their work. Fellowships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, and artistic excellence.

The Emerging Artist Prize will offer five (5) creative professionals of any artistic discipline (visual art, theater, music, spoken word, dance, etc.) in the early stages of a professional career the opportunity to focus on developing their artistic “voice” while also establishing a business foundation, creating a cohort of individuals in a similar phase of their career, and providing mentorship to aid in successfully building a pathway for the future.
For the purposes of this grant, an emerging artist is defined as an individual who is in the early stages of a professional art-related career. They are developing their artistic “voice” and are in the process of establishing a foothold in the professional arena. It’s commonly accepted that unless someone has had a lot of early national success, an emerging artist has likely been practicing for less than 10 years, regardless of age or education. This artist is in the initial phases of building significant recognition. They are actively working to grow and sustain an exhibition record, publishing history, acting credits, or booking performance opportunities. They are working toward gallery representation, residencies, honors or awards, reviews by art critics, grants, or publications, etc.
Applications for the Emerging Artist Prize are being accepted now through November 8, 2024. Click here for more info.
